Really late and trying to get last week’s out before this week’s starts. I still don’t know who got kicked off last week, so this may be interesting…
1) Sara and Pasha dancing Jazz
It was weird, but I love any dance that can use suspenders as props.
2) Lauren and Neil dancing Contemporary
Sure there were lots of issues with their synchronization, but the Mia Michaels choreographed routine still made up for it.
3) Anya and Danny dancing the Foxtrot
These two are great at ballroom. Ballroom can be terrible on SYTYCD, but these guys make it look easy.
New video from Rilo Kiley, The Moneymaker:
Is this a bizarre form of punishment. or recreation? Someone help, I’m so confused.
****UPDATE****
Ok. so I’ve watched this thing a few more times now, and guess what???? I’m still totally confused. What’s with the cross-dressing? Who decided who had to play the girl? Was there an audition process? For that matter, who decided which inmates got to be the main dancers? Or the Michael Jackson character? And what’s with the scary saturation effect toward the end? There are some weird undertones with the attacking of the cross-dresser that I’m not even going to begin to think about. I mean, these guys are prison inmates? Eek. I’m still really confused.
****UPDATE #2****
So I did some research in the attempt to debunk my “I’m going crazy” theory that was my inevitable reaction to the previous Thriller video, and I came across this:
I’m now fully convinced. I am going crazy.
…or: Will the Barrage of New Mobile Services Ever End?
“Created by the location-based service Yojo Mobile, this new web service sends a list of the closest and cleanest bathrooms straight to users’ mobile phones. Bathroom ratings are user generated and users can also search for amenities such as handicap accessibility and diaper-changing stations (perfect for moms!). The service is free but users have the option to access promotional deals for nearby businesses. Currently available in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Boston, and Chicago, Mizpee is expected to expand internationally to London, Paris and Beijing.”
Isn’t finding these things out for yourself part of the fun? If you were as intrigued as I was you can visit the website (www.mizpee.com) for more details and to check out Ms. Pee herself.
This week was a fantastic week on SYTYCD, especially after a pretty boring week of poor performances last week. I don’t envy the judges this week. Without further ado, my favorites of the week:
1) Pasha and Sara dancing West Coast Swing
Although I liked both of these dancers with their original partners, they were also great together. The routine that Benji Schwimmer gave them was fun and energetic and they performed it splendidly. (Sorry in advance for the intro section. Youtube didn’t have a version available without it).
2) Lacey and Kameron dancing the Hustle
Another great dance from Lacey and Kameron. These guys may not blow your socks off every week, but they are solid. (Again, sorry for the intro)
3) Dominic and Sabra dancing Hip Hop
This was a tough decision, because Neil and Lauren’s Jazz was pretty great too, but this week I’m going to give it Dominic and Sabra. Man, they are either lucky with the choreographers they get or great dancers. It’s probably a bit of both, but they make it into my top 3 for the third week in a row.
Tuesday was my birthday. Thanks to everyone at work for making me dress up in really frilly things and drink margaritas at lunch! (Rough gig)
All the fond childhood memories I’ve ever had about Alvin and the Chipmunks has just been destroyed by this just-released poster for the new movie. What is wrong with people?
